THE LONGTAILS

1980 to 1981: A very brief but glorious moment in the history of unheard of improvised rock music of Kent, the Longtails resided in a scout hut on top of Shoreham Hill. A few locals would wander in to their rehearsals - "really just tripped out" musical evenings - and quite a few of them ended up playing along. With roots in 70s Pixie Prog and Beefheart/Magic Band, to odd Victorian waltzes, psychedelic dub and auto-didactic post-punk poetry recitals. The Longtails were pretty weird.

Not yet available, but work on transferring the tapes to digital and the compilation thereof has begun in earnest, and sometime in late 2008 should see the first CD of the archive tapes being produced.
